Hot Springs – The Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park takes place on Saturday, April 14th and is one of the last stops on the Kentucky Derby prep schedule. The list of trainers and jockeys in the Arkansas Derby reads like a who’s who of Kentucky Derby regulars.

Bob Baffert has a pair of horses entered in the Arkansas Derby with Secret Circle and Bodemeister. Secret Circle drew post position five with jockey Rafael Bejarano and opened at 5/2 morning line odds. Bodemeister will have jockey Mike Smith with the mount from post eleven and opened at 9/5 morning line odds. It will be interesting to see what happens if Bodemeister were to win as Mike Smith has already picked Daddy Nose Best for his mount for the 138th Kentucky Derby.

Optimizer who is trained by Wayne Lukas will be ridden by jockey Jon Court and will be starting from post seven. Opening at 6/1 on the morning line odds, Optimizer will be joined by Isn’t He Clever trained by Henry Dominquez with jockey Robby Albarado at 6/1.

Trainer Todd Pletcher will be starting Stat from post two at 10/1 with jockey John Velazquez.

Four horses opened at 15/1 for the Arkansas Derby. Cozzetti will be making the start from post one for trainer Dale Romans with jockey Jose Lezcano. Najjaar from post three will be ridden by Calvin Borel, Sabercat will break from post nine with jockey Corey Nakatani for Steve Asmussen and Raconteur will start from post ten for Todd Pletcher.

Rounding out the field at 30/1 on the morning line odds are Jake Mo from post four and Atigun for trainer Ken McPeek at post eight.
