Bet Bot Gambling Isn’t Gambling!
I was recently approached by someone to start using and promoting bet bot or gambling bot software which automatically places your wagers for you while the companies promise you free money. If there is one thing I know it is that nothing is free and if something seems too good to be true then it’s probably a bad thing.
Gambling bots are software that use a gaming website’s Application Programming Interface (API) to speed up (essentially automate) the process of placing bets based upon a gambling system or betting strategy to decide which bets to place.
Maybe I am being a little too harsh when I say I think people who use these forms of software are thieves with no moral compass but I honestly despise the use of these products.
I am a purist and take pride in the history, honor and integrity of events such as the Triple Crown and Breeder’s Cup along with other sports such as the World Series, Super Bowl, March Madness and Stanley Cup Finals. I also love wagering on these events, have for the last 15 years and will likely continue to do so for the remainder of my days as I truly enjoy betting and never wager more than I can afford to lose as I see it simply as an entertainment expense.
With the use of bet bots though, all the thrills, excitement, ups and downs along with memories and good times are gone. None of these people using bet bots are getting together with a group of people and traveling to see a major event like the Kentucky Derby or getting together with a couple friends for a day at the track or even to watch a matinee baseball game with a few cold beverages and a hot dog.
It used to be you would see a line move because a couple sharps came in on one horse or a line for big money and that would cause it to move, these days that might still be the case but more and more often it is because a bunch of computers with the same software mathematically calculated to bet the same horse. Not only does this kill your odds if you bet that horse but it can also mislead those who are following line moves. Since these wager bot users are simply trying to win enough wagers to mathematically earn money at the end of the day which might involved thousands of wagers, it messes up everyone else along the way.
People who use wager bots simply want to make a quick buck and really don’t care how they do it. I see it as stealing money from an old lady that doesn’t know any better or finding a wallet on the street and not returning it to the rightful owner. This is the same mentality that has been crippling the stock exchanges around the world as they bleed markets dry over time and will do the same to the gaming industry unless people do something about it and awareness is increased.
To further complicate the issue, the companies taking our wagers get paid based on the volume of money wagered and are always looking to increase the amount of money bet without a care for wins or losses. How long will it be before we start seeing the companies themselves pushing bet bot products as they choose to make a quick buck even if it is at the expense of our racing industry?
Cheers,
Jack
