The 2011 Breeders Cup Challenge continued this weekend with 4 races of exhilarating action in just 3 quick days that went by faster than Coil in the Haskell on Sunday. Okay so Coil didn’t set any track records or speed figures but the weekend was wonderful thanks to the major television networks NBC and ABC.

NBC has been giving the fans what they want, LIVE racing week after week with their Summer at Saratoga series; most recently was the Diana Stakes and Jim Dandy Stakes. The winner of the Diana Stakes was Zagora and Stay Thirsty gave us a show in the Jim Dandy Stakes.

Stealing the show though was Bob Baffert trained Coil in the Breeders Cup Challenge race the Haskell Invitational on ABC this past Sunday who defeated the favorite Shackleford and gave Bob Baffert his 5th Haskell Stakes Invitational win.

Also this past week was the Cougar II Handicap at Del Mar that saw Bourbon Bay qualify with his “win and you’re in” effort and will advance to the Breeders Cup Marathon. Tres Borrachos, winner of the San Diego Handicap who qualified for the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile and Ask The Moon won the Ruffian Handicap at Saratoga.

If you haven’t been watching the Summer at Saratoga series on NBC then now is the time to start as all the races have been excellent for fans and not bad for bettors too!
