Kentucky Derby Workout: Take Charge Indy
Take Charge Indy was on the track and worked five furlongs in 1:00:47 at Palm Meadows today in his final training prep for the Kentucky Derby.
As the Florida Derby winner gets ready for the Kentucky Derby on May 5th under the Twin Spires at Churchill Downs in Louisville KY, it was exercise rider Susie Bricker leading Take Charge Indy around the track. Accompanied by stable mate Zimmer, Take Charge Indy posted fractions of 11.60, 23.60 and 47.60 as per track clocker Bryan Walls.
“It was a super work, he couldn’t have gone any better. He went a little faster than I liked but that’s all right because of the way he did it. He looked like he was just two-minute-licking out there” said trainer Pat Byrne.
Tuesday is the scheduled date for Take Charge Indy to arrive at Churchill Downs. Traveling on the flight will also be Kentucky Derby competitors Gemologist and El Padrino. Kentucky Oaks favorite Grace Hall will also be on board the flight.
