Thirteen New Kentucky Derby Nominations

Thirteen new horses have been added to the nominations list for the 2011 Triple Crown races. This makes a total of 377 nominees who are now eligible to run in the $2 million guaranteed Kentucky Derby (GI) at Churchill Downs on May 7, the $1 million Preakness (GI) at Pimlico on May 21 and the $1 million Belmont Stakes (GI) at Belmont Park on June 11.

Early nominations to the Triple Crown closed on Saturday, January 22 with 364 3-year-old entries headed by unbeaten juvenile champion Uncle Mo. Early Triple Crown nominations required a fee of $600. The late nomination period closed at midnight on Saturday, March 26 and required a fee of $6,000. All three races will be televised live on NBC Sports.

The horses made eligible for the 2011 Triple Crown in the late nomination period include:

Norman Asbjornson
Ruler On Ice
