CHARLOTTE, N.C.(AP) -- The top team owners in NASCAR held a
private meeting to discuss how to improve the slumping industry
without raising costs.

Representatives from at least 10 teams met Tuesday night at
Hendrick Motorsports to brainstorm over a variety of ideas, Rick
Hendrick confirmed to The Associated Press.

NASCAR was aware of the meeting and hopeful the participants
could agree upon issues that will ultimately help the sport
overcome rising costs in the face of slumping fan support.

The idea was an offshoot of the town hall-style meetings NASCAR
began holding for competitors last season. This session gave
owners an opportunity to debate issues directly related to
costs.
