Colony Club wins Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) – Colony Club overtook Inspired in the closing strides to win by a neck in the $60,000 Klassy Briefcase Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Trained by Alexandra White and ridden by Geovany Garcia, the 6-year-old mare ran the 5 1/2 furlongs over firm turf course in 1:02.52 and returned $54.40, $13.80 and $5. It was the sixth win in 21 starts for Colony Club, who has earned $205,125.

Inspired, sent off as the betting favorite, paid $3.20 and $2.20, while Sounds of the City was a nose back in third and returned $3.60.
