Trainer Steve Asmussen has two probable entrants in the Preakness Stakes.

  • Probable starters for the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico on May 20 are Grade 1 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming, Lookin At Lee, Classic Empire, Gunnevera, Hence, Royal Mo, Conquest Mo Money, Cloud Computing, Multiplier and Senior Investment.
  • Lancaster Bomber is under Preakness consideration for trainer Aidan O’Brien.
  • Always Dreaming arrived at Pimlico on May 9 and settled into the Preakness Stakes barn stall 40, which is traditionally reserved for the Derby champion.
  • Conditioner Steve Asmussen’s Derby runner-up Lookin At Lee and 11th-place finisher Hence will resume training at Churchill Downs on May 10 and fly to Baltimore for the Preakness on May 16.
  • Classic Empire, who exited his fourth in the Derby with a swollen eye, has recovered from that completely and is on target to compete in the Preakness.
  • Kentucky Derby seventh-place finisher Gunnevera resumed training on May 9 at Churchill Downs and will have jockey Mike Smith aboard for the first time in the Preakness.
  • Gunnevera will van from Churchill Downs to Pimlico on May 13.
  • 2017 Hall of Fame inductee Javier Castellano, who rode Gunnevera in the Derby, confirmed that he will ride Grade 2 Wood Memorial third-place finisher Cloud Computing in the Preakness.
  • Preakness candidate Royal Mo accompanied Always Dreaming on the May 9 flight from Louisville and is slated to go to the Pimlico track on May 10.
  • Grade 3 Illinois Derby hero Multiplier and Grade 3 Lexington victor Senior Investment are both stabled at Keeneland and will fly out of Louisville to Baltimore on May 16 to prepare for the Preakness.
