Preakness Stakes Odds – War of Will, Latest Odds and Contenders

There were some doubts about whether or not War of Will, who was involved in the Kentucky Derby disqualification kerfuffle, would make the gate for the Preakness Stakes. He emerged from the bumping incident without any significant injuries, but trainer Mark Casse indicated he was a bit sore on front hoof in the days immediately following. However, the colt’s blacksmith found his shoe had simply slipped in the Churchill Downs mud, causing him some discomfort, and once righted, the son of War Front was no worse for wear and shipping arrangements to Baltimore were made.

War Front started out the year in top shape by winning the LeComte Stakes and then the Risen Star Stakes before a bad break and an awkward step shortly after leaving the gate in the Louisiana Derby left his connections’ Kentucky Derby dreams in doubt. The Gary Barber-owned colt was deemed ok and returned to training and made the Run for the Roses, only to have those winning hopes dashed by bumping and subsequent drama surrounding it.

Shaking it all off while the Derby finish snakes it way through the justice system, War of Will will move on with his life and career and be in the Preakness gate. Tyler Gaffalione will be back in the saddle and they are currently 4-1 on the early odds board.
